Appointments are made in a timely manner. Dr. Katz can usually see new patients with disc problems the same day. Additionally, diagnostic testing (i.e. – x-rays, EMG/NCS, MRIs) can be conveniently performed at Westside Orthopaedic Clinic or nearby at one of several imaging facilities.

What can I expect if I have a minimally invasive microdiscectomy?
For the right patient, who has failed conservative treatment (i.e. – medication, PT, injections), a minimally invasive microdiscectomy can be done in an outpatient setting with an incision that can be covered by a band-aid. The procedure typically takes less than an hour. Most patients can return to normal activities within 3 to 6 weeks, depending on his/her individual circumstances.
